7,200 euros in compensation obtained for a flight to Miami.

Sometimes you can experience mishaps during your trip, such as significant delays or the cancellation of the flight on which you were scheduled to depart. Remember that you are entitled to a fixed compensation of 250, 400 or 600 euros per passenger, with the amount depending on the distance of your flight.

In October 2014, a family of 8 people planned to fly to Miami, a multicultural and festive city with long white sandy beaches, and all the attractions of Florida. It is the kingdom of the sun and amusement parks at the gates of South America.

The two families, each made up of two adults and two children, were departing from two different cities, Lyon and Toulouse with a connecting flight via Lisbon to meet in Miami on 17 October 2014. For their return journey, they had planned to take the same long-distance flight with a connecting flight to Lisbon.

Let's examine their various difficulties:
Departure:
A family of 4 experienced a delay of 3 hours and 45 minuteson the Lyon-Lisbon flight of 17 October 2014 on their way to Miami (missed connecting flight to Miami). Delay at the final destination > 6 hours. Compensation of 2,400 euros.
Return leg:
A family of 4 experienced a cancellation of its Miami-Lisbon flight on 30 October 2014 (missed connecting flight to Lyon). Delay at the final destination > 24 hours. Compensation of 2,400 euros.
A family of 4 experienced a cancellation of its Miami-Lisbon flight on 30 October 2014 (missed connecting flight to Toulouse). Delay at the final destination > 24 hours. Compensation of 2,400 euros.

Following these repeated problems on the same journey, the passengers sought information and discovered the European regulations which protect passengers who have received poor service from air carriers (Regulation EC 261/2004 of 11 February 2004) and decided to seek compensation. They filed their request for compensation with one clickon 3 December 2014 on the Air-Indemnité website.

The case was managed per family and per trip and the compensation was paid directly into the bank accounts of each family:
- on 26 March 2015 for one part of the case with a transfer of 2,400 euros
- on 29 April 2015 , a second part of the case was settled with a transfer of 2,400 euros
-       on 8 June 2015  the last part of the case was settled with a transfer of 2,400 euros

This complex case could be solved in six months thanks to the expertise and determination of the Air Indemnité advisers.

The two families are delighted to have obtained the various compensations and wish to organise another trip during their next holidays.
